Today we’re making the Nik Collection available to everyone, for free.

Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images every day. As we continue to focus our long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile, including Google Photos and Snapseed, we’ve decided to make the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free, so that now anyone can use it.

The Nik Collection is comprised of seven desktop plug-ins that provide a powerful range of photo editing capabilities — from filter applications that improve color correction, to retouching and creative effects, to image sharpening that brings out all the hidden details, to the ability to make adjustments to the color and tonality of images.

Starting March 24, 2016, the latest Nik Collection will be freely available to download: Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine. If you purchased the Nik Collection in 2016, you will receive a full refund, which we’ll automatically issue back to you in the coming days.

We’re excited to bring the powerful photo editing tools once only used by professionals to even more people now.

Incoming Google Photos updates..

Now with a bottom navigation bar (that’s a big one) , “collections” is now “albums”, navigation is faster – and more. Of course it’s staged rollout so I’ll have to wait 😭 oh, well..

Easier and faster navigation

Rolling out today, the latest Google Photos update features an improved design and performance enhancements.

A new bottom bar makes it easy to move between the Assistant, Photos, and new Albums view. So you can spend less time flipping menus, and more time looking at your photos.

You’ll also notice that – based on your feedback – Collections has been renamed to Albums, and features a new scrolling carousel on top with easy access to your shared albums, people, places, things, animations, collages, movies, and device folders.

These changes make Photos faster and easier to use than ever, and will be coming soon to iOS.

I almost forgot, but today I got this reminder when I started the app.. Google is killing the app My Tracks -it stops working on April 30th, 2016.

I’ve tried Google Fit, as suggested, but.. It’s not enough, or maybe too much.

I’m giving Geo Tracker by Ilya Bogdanovich a try for now (best one so far), but it’s missing Google drive intergration and that was a nice feature in My Tracks that I’ll miss.

Anyone else know of a good candidate?

Raspberry Pi 3 is on sale now at $35! It features a 1.2GHz 64-bit quad-core CPU, giving about 10x the performance of a Raspberry Pi 1, as well as wireless LAN and Bluetooth. It’s completely compatible with Raspberry Pi 1 and 2.

“The Vega+ is a new low cost hand-held games console with a colour LCD screen and 1,000 licensed games already installed.” -it can run every Spectrum game that exists, it even supports loading additional games from micro SD card – popular snapshot and tape file formats are supported.

This. is. awesome.

YouTube is launching a Custom Blurring tool today that lets creators blur any object in a video, even if the object moves. Nice feature if you want to blur sensitive information such as a license plate or other stuff that you didn’t want to get in your shot.
